Success for FENG/WEI in the mixed doubles

Ranked 146th in the world, FENG Yan Zhe and WEI Ya Xin are currently riding a wave of success. At last week's All England Open, they were only beaten in the final. At the Yonex Swiss Open this week, they reached the final without losing a set. Their compatriots ZHU Yi Jun and ZHANG Chi, ranked 9 places behind them, eliminated GUO/CHEN, also from China, who were ranked 5th, in the second round of the tournament.

FENG/WEI started aggressively in the first set. However, ZHU/ZHANG held their own. It was only at 4:4 that FENG/WEI were able to pull away with 3 points in a row. They were able to extend this lead after the break and secured the first set.

Things also went better for them in the second set. ZHU/ZHANG repeatedly made unnecessary mistakes, but they also showed lightning-fast tactical variations that their opponents were unable to return. Ultimately, however, FENG/WEI secured the title in the mixed doubles competition after an entertaining 35 minutes with a final score of 21:13 and 21:15.
