The second tournament day of the Yonex Swiss Open 2025 is drawing to a close - and it was a tough one! While most of the favourites prevailed, some matches provided real surprises and an electrifying atmosphere in the St. Jakobshalle.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the match between POPOW Christo (FRA) and CHOU Tien Chen (TPE). In a thrilling three-set match, the young Frenchman prevailed against the world number 17 with 21:23 - 21:19 and 21:14. The spectators cheered both players on loudly and the atmosphere in the packed hall reached its peak.
Denmark's Julie Dawall JAKOBSEN (BWF world ranking 31) caused the second sensation of the evening, defeating PUSARLA V. Sindhu (WR 17) in two sets. The number 7 seed from India, two-time Olympic medallist and crowd favourite, was unable to find her game against the combative Dane and was beaten 17:21 and 19:21.
