Christo POPOV, the younger of the two POPOV brothers, remains in the tournament. After Toma Junior lost his singles match earlier in the evening, Christo prevailed in his match against S.Sankar Muthusamy SUBRAMANIAN from India. While the Indian had confidently sent home the world number two A. Antonsen from Denmark the previous evening, POPOV was better prepared for him. The Frenchman repeatedly put SUBRAMANIAN under pressure with fast rallies and forced his game on the Indian. In the end, POPOV needed 40 minutes to reach the semi-finals with a 21:10 and 21:14 victory.
