All good things come in threes for Goh/Lai (MAS)

As in the men's singles, athletes from the same country faced each other in the women's doubles final. CHEN Tang Jie/TOH Ee Wei (MAS), seeded No. 3 at the current Swiss Open, will face GOH Soon Huat/LAI Shevon Jemie (MAS) from seed No. 8.

Goh/Lai are getting to know what it feels like to be in the final in Basel: They already reached the final day of the tournament in 2022 and 2023, but were beaten both times, first against a Chinese pairing and last year against a German mixed pair. The score between the two Malaysian mixed pairs is 1-1 so far, with Goh/Lai winning once in July 2023 and then Chen/Toh in November 2023.

However, it was already becoming apparent in the first set that Goh/Lai might finally win a Swiss Open final today. After a relatively even game at the beginning, the pair got playing stronger and stronger and took the set 21-16. In the second set, Chen/Toh, who are ranked five places higher than their opponents in the world rankings, fought back with all their might, but even that was not enough. Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie proved that all good things really do come in threes, finally coming out victorious in their third Swiss Open final.

Final score:
CHEN Tang Jie/TOH Ee Wei (MAS) [3] vs. GOH Soon Huat/LAI Shevon Jemie (MAS) [8]
16-21, 13-21
